What’s the difference between Fever Tree Ginger Beer and any other ginger beer?
Fever Tree Ginger Beer — a ginger brew that contains no artificial colors or flavors, preservatives, or high fructose corn syrup — is a blend of three gingers from Nigeria, Cochin and the Ivory Coast. It’s spicy and a little lower in sugar than some other brands (at least it’s a natural sugar instead of a laboratory sugar).
We prefer Ginger Beer over Ginger Ale because it has a more intense, spicy ginger flavor. Ginger Ale is usually an amber-clear beverage, whereas Ginger Beer is cloudy with unfiltered ginger; selecting a Ginger brew that is highly concentrated with the medicinal root will enhance the health benefits of you cocktail (follow link to discover the healing powers of ginger). Of course, you could always combine homemade ginger simple syrup with sparkling water to make a low sugar ginger brew. Now that we’ve explored ginger options, let’s discuss the citrus.
Do not supplement kaffir limes with any ol’ limes from your local grocery store. Why?
Kaffir Limes are native to Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia; if you’re a fan of Thai cuisine, then you’ve probably already enjoyed kaffir lime in a curry or other dish. The lime has a distinctive flavor that is very different than the limes you use to make margaritas; therefore, Kaffir Lime Vodka and Kaffir Lime leaves cannot be exchanged for other lime ingredients. If you have an Asian market near your home, Kaffir Lime leaves will be easy to find; if not, check with a specialty grocer or order them from an online herb shop.
What are the health benefits of Kaffir Lime? Traditionally, kaffir limes have been used in Indonesian medicine to alleviate colds, increase circulation, and dispel fatigue. Fight off the yawns with an Early Morning in Bangkok.
